Shut up and take my money!
In each of the paintings there are hidden Disney characters from other movies. I’ve seen them several times in his Fort Worth gallery and they have magnified glasses with a list a each character find for each painting, it’s a near experience!
help me find them!
If Stuntmen from the old movies don’t have your full respect then I just don’t know what to say to you
Yo this so much. At the advent of cinema these people were literally willing to die for their art. It’s crazy, and awesome.
Also if you find this awesome, people go check out a 2006 movie called The Fall, about a 1920’s stuntman’s stay in hospital after a stunt gone wrong.
man things were wacky before color was invented
These gifs are all of Buster Keaton though. Literally every singleone.
Okay so lemme tell you about Buster fucking Keaton. *clears throat*
Keaton was one of the three biggest stars of silent comedy (the others were Charlie Chaplin and Harold Lloyd, better known as That Guy Who Hung Off A Clock). He grew up in a vaudeville family getting literally thrown around the stage by his dad, and when he got into movies he did all his own stunts. The man you see in the gifs up there isn’t just some random dude who was hired to do those crazy things. That’s the star of the fucking film.
See that third gif? The facade of that house weighed like a ton, and Keaton had less than half a foot of clearance between the top of his head and the top of the door. They had to position his feet precisely on nails in the ground, and a lot of the filming crew went off and hid in the bushes because they couldn’t even watch the shot. Keaton didn’t even flinch when the damn thing came down — you can see it in the gif.
He originally broke his ankle on the stairs in the fifth gif and couldn’t walk for like two months. When his ankle healed he went right back to the set and re-shot the same stunt. Because he was just that badass.
Also not included is the stunt where he fell off a moving train after having a water tower dump its entire contents on him, literally broke his fucking neck on the railroad tracks, and got up and walked away. He didn’t even find out he’d broken it until a checkup like fifteen years later. He was still doing his own stunts up to when he died in his sixties.
Silent-movie actors were all hardcore but Buster Keaton was the hardest of the hardcore and I will literally fight you on this if you say otherwise.
Seriously if you’re a fan of silent film movies look up Buster Keaton’s work and remind yourself there were no stunt doubles for him there. He did everything himself and this was at tradition that he stuck to all up to his appearance in ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum’ where he still performed many of his own stunts (due to his health decreasing he had to use a stunt double a few times but not all of the time). May I add he was 69 years old, and died a year later.
